About ArtHist
ArtHist
is an inter-university,
public, non-for-profit institution for publications and discussions concerning art history.
The network is open for contributions on all
artistic genres, media, and periods. Adhering to an open conception of "art",
the list is not limited to the conventional interests and approaches of academic art
history. In particular, it invites critical contributions on pictorial tradition as an
aspect of a larger visual environment.
ArtHist
maintains an e-mail discussion list
(H-ArtHist) that
is refereed and
edited by an independent
board, which may also commission contributions.
To promote discussion, the board members will collect and evaluate
publications in the media, scholarly journals or on the Internet. Essential
aspects of the editorial board's policies are formulated in the H-Net
constitution and by-laws.
All
messages posted by H-ArtHist are stored and can be found on our archive
+ search page. The archive is free and open to everyone.
Recent
reviews are also published on our documents
pages. The webpages also offer reference and link collections.
ArtHist.net was launched in Hamburg in 2001 by Claudia Sedlarz,
Iris Mahnke, Joachim Homann, Rainer Donandt, and Matthias Bruhn.
